Dressing For The Occasion

Las Vegas, also known for it’s “what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas” expression, is no-doubt the capital of adult entertainment in the United States. From its countless extravagant venues, patrons from all over the world are sure to find just their style of recreation during their visit.

However, most of the nightclubs in Las Vegas do adhere to strict dress codes. Regardless of your status – whether you have a bottle service reservation, or you are just on the guest list – these guidelines are meticulously enforced.

When planning to enjoy a night out at a club, it is understandable to be confused about what can be expected in this aspect.

While many Las Vegas nightclubs share similarities in their guidelines, it is important to know what will get you through the door and what won’t.

It is also good to keep in mind that all management reserves the right to grant or deny entry based on proper dress code etiquette. Some require upscale attire, while others may go for the more upscale-casual look.

So, what is the difference between the two? Let’s break it down.

What’s Not Allowed at The Club

While there might be some guests who get away with breaking some of the guidelines here and there, this is not a risk you want to take.

So, keep these tips in mind when you are laying out your outfit for the club:
  • Absolutely steer clear of anything vulgar or offensive.
  • Avoid pieces that could cause a disturbance.
  • Do not attempt to wear items such as Go Pros, cameras, or selfie sticks.
  • Avoid all athletic attire, including gym and workout shoes.
  • Do not wear a mask, face paint, veils, or any object that would cover your face.
  • Do not wear a hat or beanies.
  • Do not wear ripped, stained, baggy, or loose-fitting attire.
  • Avoid clothing that contains hooks, rivets, chains, or studs.
  • Do not wear shorts, cut offs, capris, jerseys, or tank tops.
  • Avoid wearing hard soled shoes and boots.
Is It Acceptable To Accessorize?

When it comes to dressing for the club in Las Vegas, accessories are certainly allowed. This can be a jewelry piece that you wear on a regular basis, or something that is brought out for special occasions.

As a woman, try selecting an accessory that enhances your features to help you stand out from the crowd. When in doubt, think fashionably.

For the guys, while hats are not allowed, you may possibly be able to get away with wearing a Fedora. However, do not try getting away with wearing your everyday baseball cap or beanie.

Let’s not forget about the sunglasses. Unless you are wearing them for medical reasons or are experiencing blindness, the suggestion is to not wear them to the club. Not only will you run the chance of being made fun of or looking like the odd ball; it’s just not acceptable and will cause problems at the door.

Upscale-casual attire

The typical upscale-casual outfit can be compared to something along the lines of cocktail-party attire.

It is essentially mixing an upscale clothing piece with a more casual one. So, for women, this could be a short dress or nice jeans with a dressy top.

As for the gentleman, this typically means nice dress pants or designer jeans and a collared shirt, or a shirt matched with a blazer or stylish jacket.

Upscale fashionable attire

Upscale fashionable attire can be described as trendy and tends to be much dressier than upscale-casual.

This doesn’t necessarily mean suit and tie for men and dazzling, top of the line dresses for the ladies, though. Men should wear clothing like a buttoned-down shirt, pressed pants, and dress shoes.

Upscale club attire for women could be mini-dresses or even dress slacks with a fancy top and heels.  While following this dress code, it is important to keep in mind that women should only carry small purses or clutches up to 12” x 12” x 6”.

In general, when women are dressing to fit the upscale-fashionable dress code, the attire should always be on the fancier side. The doormen really want the female guests to stand out in the crowd to attract more paying customers.

As a female, though, the nightclubs want you there regardless, which makes it easier when it comes to dress guidelines. So, you don’t have to spend as much time as your male counterpart stressing over what you can and can’t wear. Just be your glamorous self without the hot yoga pants.

For the men, on the other hand, it might take a little more time to choose attire carefully according to the guidelines.

What Kind Of Shirts Are Required For Men?

Most nightclubs do not require men to wear collared shirts. However, you may want to consider keeping your selection to something that is stylish and fits well.

At most locations, t-shirts are not allowed, yet it is becoming increasingly normal to see  them once inside the club. Frequently, men will play it safe by wearing a nice jacket until they get through their entry.

Another tip for the guys: you should not try to match shirts with your friend. This could cause a problem with the doorman when you are trying to enter.

Can I Wear Jeans?

Yes. There are many places that will allow you to wear nice fitting, designer jeans. It is not a requirement to always wear dress slacks.

However, you should still leave those torn and ripped up jeans at home or the hotel. You will be able to relax and feel stylish at the club while going for something a little more casual at the same time, as long as you keep these guidelines in mind in doing so.

What Kind Of Shoes Should I Wear?

While there may be some casinos that are okay with women wearing flats on the floor, for the nightclub scene, flats are often looked down upon.

Remember ladies, you want to go for a more upscale look from head to toe. A good rule of thumb in this instance is that dressy is the best: no tennis shoes or sports shoes.

For the men, go for leather shoes or dress shoes as your first option. Sandals are a no-go for all patrons.

Don't be the reason your not here this weekend.
