Overview

As an internationally renowned city, Las Vegas is a place most people plan on visiting at least once in this lifetime. As the ultimate playground, it’s packed with vibrant colors, entertainment, food, and exotic party scenes.

Visitors find the city to be attractive for a few reasons: namely the resort-styled atmospheres and attire, along with the venues like night and day clubs. There are a handful of venues and clubs, however, no matter how many there are, they all require very specific protocol.

By protocol, we mean attire.

There are two types of attire required for entry into day clubs specifically. They are known as resort-style attire and acceptable day club attire.

If you have yet to hear of these two types of dressing standards, continue reading for direct tips on what is acceptable and what not to wear. You’ll find this straight-to-the-point guide to be helpful when deciding what to pack on your next trip.

Acceptable Day Club Attire

Attire for Women

Women have a wide range of clothing options in opposition to men. This puts them at an advantage of getting into day clubs.

Expect to wear either a dress or skirt, usually knee-length, with your choice of summer prints, or a bold color like red, green, or cobalt blue.
If a dress or skirt isn’t cutting it for you, try a tunic. A tunic is a garment that, length-wise, reaches the hips or knees. As for shoes, it’s  best to go with either flats or wedges, as they give off a more casual look.

Khakis and tailored-cropped pants are also acceptable for women to wear to a day club, along with dressy blouses and tops.

Attire for Men

Considering the guidelines for men’s clothing changes often, its best to stick with an outfit that gives a more polished look.

Wear a shirt with a collar. Although the expectancy to wear a collared shirt is becoming slimmer by the day, remember that collared shirts still bring a sense of charm to any scene.

Polo-Style shirts are also men’s staple fashion pieces. They are perfect for day clubs because they walk the line of not being too formal, but also not too casual. Khaki shorts or tailored chinos are acceptable wear for the bottom.

To accessorize your outfit and pull it all together, wear a belt that looks classy and sleek.

There are a few options for mens footwear as well. Top-sider boat shoes have rubber soles which give them the boat-like, resort-look we’re aiming for. Penny loafers, on the other hand, are elegant editions to both collard and polo-style shirts.

“Resort-Style” Attire

Have you ever heard of the term cruise wear? When you think of cruise wear, your mind may lean towards colors that make you feel bright, collected, and somewhat elegant.

The word resort refers to a season, and this means when you’re on vacation. You should aim to look your best, but in a conservative manner.

Resort-style clothing is meant to create an environment of sophistication. This requires you wear clothing one level above what your daily dress would be.

What Kind Of Swimwear Is Allowed at a Vegas Pool Party?

Vegas pool parties are unmatched due to their high-level of energy resembling nightclubs. Yet, it’s in the day time and its by the pool, but even at a pool party, there is still a strict dress code.

Women should wear bathing suits, and with that comes the expectancy to cover them. Something like a sundress or a beach wrap would be acceptable in this scenario. A nice top and shorts are also acceptable to go over the bathing suit upon entrance.

Hair is also considered a part of any outfit. Women should have their hair done, either down or pulled back into a chic ponytail.

You may see photos of women wearing heels, but many pools don’t allow the types of soles that heels often have on them. Opt for a wedge or gladiator sandals: sandals that show off the lower leg, go up to the knee, and sometimes the thigh.

It’s exceptional for men to wear board shorts and similar shirts to that of resort-style clothing—polo shirts and collared shirts. There are some day clubs that allow men to sport T-shirts, but only if they’re not covered with writing or other graphics.

What’s NOT Allowed

While there is so much required, there are also many things that are completely intolerable at the pool parties. Take note of the things pool parties will prohibit, as they are sure to deny your entry.

Here are some of the things you should leave either in your room or back at home:

Athletic shoes/sneakers

Revealing pool attire

Mesh thongs and G-strings

Large chains/necklaces

Baggy attire

Cut-offs

Athletic wear like yoga pants, sports jerseys, and sweatpants

Drai's Beach Club Prohibited Items

Don’t risk your trip by trying to break the rules. These rules are put into place to ensure you and others have a fulfilling experience. A fulfilled experience requires everyone to abide by the same guidelines. These guidelines will also create a safe environment.

Avoid bringing these items to pool parties:

  • Cameras (this includes GoPros)
  • Other technology
  • Your own alcohol
  • Needles
  • Straws
  • Weapons like pocket knives
  • Marijuana products
  • Illegal substances
